根株（上岡恩反王弼注老子曰根始也考聲根本也下陟殊反考聲煞樹之餘曰株說文木根從木從朱聲也）。

Roots and stumps (根株: the first character is pronounced 岡 + 恩 fanqie; Wang Bi's commentary on the Laozi says: 根 means beginning; Kaosheng says: roots; the second character is pronounced 陟 + 殊 fanqie; Kaosheng says: what remains of a felled tree is called 株; Shuowen says: tree roots; it takes mu [木] as its classifier and 朱 as its phonetic).
