大採菽氏（舊存梵語曰大目乾連或云俱律陁或曰拘隷多或名俱利迦皆訛略也正梵音摩賀冒（引）螚孽（二合）羅（引上聲）野遠祖神仙採菉豆食因以為姓螚音能得反）。

Great Bean Gatherer (大採菽氏: formerly, retaining the Sanskrit, he was called 大目乾連 [Mahāmaudgalyāyana], or 俱律陁, or 拘隷多, or 俱利迦, which are all corruptions and abbreviations. The correct Sanskrit sound is Mahāmaudgalyāyana. An ancient ancestral ṛṣi gathered and ate mung beans, and thus took it as his lineage name. 螚 has the phonetic reading neng-de [fanqie]).
