長短（下端算反廣雅云短促也考聲云短有所長短以𠂕為正故從矢說文不長也從矢從豆錄文從木作梪音豆籩梪字非此義也）。

Long and short (長短: the second character has the fanqie 端算 [duǎn]; the Guangya says: 'Short means brief.' The Kaosheng says: 'When there is long and short, it takes the arrow-measure [𠂕] as standard, hence it takes 'arrow' [矢] as radical.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Not long; it takes 'arrow' [矢] and 'vessel' [豆] as components.' The catalogue text writes it with 'wood' [木] as 梪, pronounced dòu, the character for sacrificial vessels [籩梪], which is not this meaning).
