Abruptly (欻然: the first character has the fanqie 熏物 [xū]; Xue Zong's commentary on the Western Metropolis Rhapsody says: 'Xū means suddenly.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Xū means to be blown up by something.' It takes 'yawn' [欠] as radical and has yán [炎] as phonetic).
