Becoming new shoots (為枿: the second character is pronounced *wu* + *ge* [niè]. The *Kaosheng* says: 'Correctly written as [(橑-小)-日+(工/十)], the first sprouting shoot of a tree.' Kong [Anguo]'s commentary on the *Classic of Documents* says: '枿 refers to the stump shoots that sprout anew from remaining wood.' 枿 is also the same).
