詮而(上七宣反淮南子云詮言者所以陳治亂之體曰詮說文云詮具也從言全聲錄序從竹作筌是捕魚笱也非詮量之義故不取)。

Expounding it (詮而: the first character is pronounced *qi* + *xuan* [quán]. The *Huainanzi* says: 'Expounding words (詮言) is that by which one sets forth the substance of good order and chaos; this is called *quan*.' The *Shuowen jiezi* says: '詮 means complete; it is formed from the "speech" radical (言) with *quan* (全) as the phonetic component.' In the recorded preface it is written with the 'bamboo' radical as 筌, which is a fish trap; it does not carry the meaning of evaluating or expounding, so it is not adopted).
