懽慘（上豁官反說文懽喜樂也或作歡下參感反爾雅慘憂也郭璞曰賢人愁恨貌也說文慘毒也亦作憯痛也形聲字）。

懽慘 (The first character has the fanqie huo4-guan1. The Shuowen jiezi says: '懽 means joy and pleasure; it is also written as 歡.' The second character has the fanqie can1-gan3. The Erya says: '慘 means sorrow.' Guo Pu says: 'The appearance of a worthy man in grief and distress.' The Shuowen jiezi says: '慘 means cruel; it is also written as 憯, meaning pain: a phono-semantic compound').
