權斂（下廉驗反禮記云小斂於戶內大斂於𲉌階鄭注云棺之坎亦為斂說文云斂收也從攴僉聲錄從反作殮俗字通）。

Temporarily encoffined (權斂: the second character is pronounced *lian* + *yan* [liàn]. The *Book of Rites* says: 'The minor encoffining (小斂) is inside the chamber; the major encoffining (大斂) is on the western steps.' Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary says: 'The recess for the coffin is also called 斂.' The *Shuowen jiezi* says: '斂 means to gather; it is formed from the "action" radical (攴) with *qian* (僉) as the phonetic component.' In the transmitted text it is written with 歹 as 殮, which is an accepted popular character).
