[膿-曲+((盥-皿)-水+(向-口+乂))]血（上奴東反字書正從血作[盥-水+囟]說文云[盥-水+囟]腫血也從血䢉省聲考聲云[盥-水+囟]血之[盥-水+囟]衛宏作膿亦作[序-予+(((盥-皿)-水+(向-口+乂))/辰)]並通用錄作膿俗字也）。

Pus and blood (膿血: the first character is pronounced *nu* + *dong* [nóng]. Dictionaries correctly write it with the 'blood' radical as [盥-水+囟]. The *Shuowen jiezi* says: '[盥-水+囟] means blood from an ulcer; it is formed from the "blood" radical (血) with the phonetic 䢉 abbreviated.' The *Kaosheng* says: 'The pus ([盥-水+囟]) of pus and blood.'
