蓊鬱（甕孔反司馬相如云蓊鬱草木盛貌從草翁聲也下惲物反說文草木叢生也從林古文從臼從[午/止]從冂從鬯音勅亮反從彡今時用多從艮從寸非也）。

蓊鬱 ('luxuriantly dense'; the first character has the fanqie weng + kong [wěng]. Sima Xiangru says: 'Wengyu is the appearance of luxuriant vegetation.' It takes 艸 as radical and 翁 as phonetic. The second character has the fanqie yun + wu [yù]. The Shuowen says: 'Vegetation growing in clumps; it takes 林 as radical.' The ancient script took 臼, [午/止], 冂, and 鬯 [pronounced chi + liang, chàng], with 彡. Nowadays it is often written with 艮 and 寸, which is incorrect).
