悲耿 ('sorrowful and anxious'; the second character has the fanqie geng + xing [gěng]. The Wenzi jilüe says: 'Geng means anxious; an uneasy mind.' It takes 耳 as radical. The Shuowen says: 'Genggeng-ran refers to the ears; it takes 耳 as radical and an abbreviated 炯 as phonetic').
