各袖利刃 ('each concealed a sharp blade in his sleeve'; the second character has the fanqie qiu + you [xiù], which is a vulgar character; the standard ancient form takes 衣 and 釆 as radicals, listed under the 褒 section. The Fangyan says: 'A short coat has sleeves [xiu], which are garments for the arms.' The commentary to the Mao Shi says: 'Xiu means sleeve cuff [qu]; qu means sleeve [mei].' Here, saying 'concealed a blade in the sleeve' refers to a dagger, a hidden sword; tying the sheath under the arm, one secretly draws it out to stab, hence it is called 'concealing a blade in the sleeve.' 抽 has the fanqie chou + liu [chōu]).
