頓顙（上敦困反下桑朗反方言云顙𬱃也案頓顙者稽顙也何休注公羊云若今叩頭也說文從頁桑聲）。

頓顙 Knock the brow (the first character is pronounced [in fanqie] 敦 + 困; the second is pronounced [in fanqie] 桑 + 朗; the Fangyan says: "顙 means forehead." To knock the brow means to bow touching the forehead to the ground. He Xiu's commentary on the Gongyang zhuan says: "Like kowtowing today." The Shuowen says: "Formed with 'head' (頁) as semantic and 桑 as phonetic").
