狷獷（上音絹考聲云褊急而守分也論語曰狂狷乎包咸注云狂者進取於善道狷者守節無所為下前第二卷中已釋下[虢-寸+(圬-土)]猛反如犬惡性也）。

狷獷 (The first character is pronounced 絹. The Kaosheng states: 'Narrow-minded, impatient, and sticking strictly to one's bounds.' The Lunyu states: 'Is it the reckless and the狷 [prudently scrupulous]?' Bao Xian's commentary states: 'The reckless forge ahead in the good path; the狷 stick to their bounds and do nothing.' The second character was already explained in Fascicle 2; it has the fanqie [虢-寸+(圬-土)]猛, like the vicious nature of a dog: scrupulous yet savage).
