磽确（上巧交反下苦角反顧野王云磽堅也地堅硬則瘦不冝五穀說文磽确礊也考聲云礊薄田也並形聲字）。

Stony and barren (the upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 巧交 [kh- + -au = khau]; the lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 苦角 [kh- + -ak = khak]. Gu Yewang says: "磽 means hard; when ground is hard and unyielding it is lean and unsuitable for the five grains." The Shuowen jiezi says: "磽确 means stony land." The Kaosheng says: "礊 means thin soil." Both are phono-semantic compound characters).
