鄙褺（上悲美反杜注左傳云鄙邊邑鄙野不慧之稱名曰鄙夫說文從邑[圖-囗]聲下恬協反西域記中於褻與此執下從衣作褺一也言鄙褻不分明也與隣近北方諸胡邊方鄙陋也在雪山中與覩貨羅相隣屬北天竺界也）。

Crude and indecent (the upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 悲美 [b- + -i = bi]. Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: "鄙 means a border town; crude and lacking wisdom is designated a rustic person." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Composed of 邑 with 啚 as phonetic." The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 恬協 [t- + -ep = tep]. In the Xiyu ji, [the word written] with 褻 is identical to the one written here with 衣 underneath 執 as 褺; it means crude and untidy, not clear and distinct. Adjacent to the northern barbarian frontiers, it is crude and vulgar. Located in the snowy mountains, bordering Tokhāra, it belongs to the borders of Northern India).
