Hewing and gathering (斲取): the first character has the fanqie 竹角 [zhuó]. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu states: '斲 means to pare/chisel.' The Shuowen jiezi states: '斲 also means to chop (斫).' Composed of 斤 ('axe') with 𠁁 phonophore.
