逗機（上頭候反字書逗留也說文逗亦止也從辵豆聲下既希反考聲云機明也孔注尚書微也說文發也從木幾聲傳從手作機誤也）。

逗機 (Responding to capacities: the first is *dow-how* [dòu]; the character books say: "*Douliu*, to delay." The Shuowen [says]: "*Dou* also means to stop; formed with the movement radical and phonetic *dou* [bean]." The second is *kji-xji* [jī]; the Kaosheng says: "*Ji* means clear." Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: "Subtle." The Shuowen [says]: "To initiate; formed with the wood radical and phonetic *ji* [table]." In the transmission, written with the hand radical as *ji* [to seize] is an error).
