Hold the reins (轡, fanqie: 悲媚): The Mao Commentary on the Shijing says, 'The six reins are like silk; supple are the reins.' The Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from 絲 with 軎 as phonetic. The treatise text writes it with 亡 as 𮝲, a popular form; 軎 has the sound 衛).
