搢紳（上津刃反儀禮云搢捔也禮記云端畢紳搢笏說文從手晉聲下夫真反包注論語云紳大帶也說文從系申聲也）。

Gentry officials (搢紳, the first char. fanqie: 津刃; the Yili says, '搢 means to insert.' The Liji says, 'With the ceremonial robe complete, one tucks in the sash and inserts (搢) the tablet.' The Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from 手 with 晉 as phonetic. The second char. fanqie: 夫真; Bao's commentary on the Lunyu says, '紳 means a large sash.' The Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from 系 with 申 as phonetic).
