褒為（上保毛反顧野王云褒猶揚美之鄭注禮記云褒猶進也考聲正作褒說文從衣𰠀聲𰠀古文保字也論文從保作褒通用）。

褒為 (The first character is *b-m-. Gu Yewang says: "褒 is like praising and extolling." Zheng's commentary on the Liji says: "褒 is like promoting." The Kaosheng gives 褒 as the correct form. The Shuowen jiezi says: "Formed from 衣 with 𰠀 phonetic." 𰠀 is the ancient character for 保. In the treatise it is written with 保 as 褒, used interchangeably.)
