褒貶（上博毛反鄭注禮記云褒進也典說云揚美也說文從衣𰠀聲𰠀古文保字也論文從[〦/保]作褒俗用亦通下筆奄反考聲云貶損也公羊傳云墜落也說文從貝乏聲）。

Praise and censure (褒貶; the first is bo-mao fan; Zheng's commentary on the Liji says: 'Bao means to promote.' The Dianshuo says: 'To praise beauty.' The Shuowen gives it with the 'clothing' radical and phonetic bao, an ancient form of bao. In the treatise it is written with [〦/保] as 褒, which is also commonly accepted. The second is bi-yan fan; the Kaosheng says: 'Bian means to diminish.' The Gongyang Zhuan says: 'To fall.' The Shuowen gives it with the 'cowry' radical and phonetic fa).
