談霸（巴罵反賈注國語云霸把也把持諸侯之權行方伯之職也釋迫也脅也迫脅諸侯把持其政不失人臣之義遵輔王業也考聲云長也伯也居眾之長方伯之任也如月魄之近日會意字也從月䨣聲也䨣音普博反從雨從革）。

談霸 (*b-m-: Jia's commentary on the Guoyu says: "霸 means grasping (把); holding the power of the feudal lords and exercising the office of regional hegemon." Explaining [further], it means to coerce and intimidate; coercing the feudal lords and seizing control of their government, yet not departing from the duty of a subject, but honoring and assisting the royal enterprise. The Kaosheng says: "It means senior; leader. Being the leader of the multitude and carrying the charge of regional hegemon. Like the moon's crescent approaching the sun."
