Wood-boring insect 蠧木 (pronounced with the fanqie 都 + 路; the Rites of Zhou says: "The Jian officer is in charge of eradicating vermin." The Shuowen jiezi says: "A du is an insect that eats wood; it takes the insect pair 䖵 and a reduced form of the phonetic 槖." The character 翦 is pronounced 箭, and 槖 is pronounced 託; it is also written with the wood radical 木 as 螙, an ancient form with the same pronunciation and meaning).
