撟偽 [fraudulent forgery]: The first character is read with the fanqie jiao + xiao. Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli says: 'Jiao means to falsely claim and deceive in order to take action.' Gu Yewang says: 'To falsely claim is called jiao.' Jia Kui says: 'Whatever violates the laws of the ancient kings is called jiao.' The Chuci says: 'Lifting up (jiao) these charms to dwell in vastness.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'To arrogate; composed of hand (手) with qiao (喬) as phonetic.' The master copy of the Lu writes it with the arrow radical (矢) as 矯; the sound is identical, but it goes against the meaning.
