蓴芡 [Water shield and Gorgon plant] (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 順倫. Gu Yewang says: 'Nowadays in the waters south of the Yangtze there is the water-shield vegetable; people often eat it.' The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 鉗歛. Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary on the Zhouli says: 'The qian is the cock's head herb [Euryale ferox].' The Gujin zhengzi states: Both take 艸 [grass] as semantic classifier, with 專 and 欠 as phonetics).
