須髮（上粟瑜反鄭注周禮云須頤下須也說文面毛也從頁彡今俗亦從髟作鬚傳作鬢皆非也頁音賢結反髟音必遙反）。

須髮 (The upper character is pronounced 粟 + 瑜 fanqie. Zheng's commentary to the *Zhouli* says: "須 means the beard below the chin." The *Shuowen* says: "Facial hair." It takes the head classifier [頁] and hair classifier [彡]. Nowadays popular usage also takes the long hair classifier [髟] to make 鬚. The biography's writing it as 鬢 is incorrect in both cases. 頁 has the sound of 賢 + 結 fanqie; 髟 has the sound of 必 + 遙 fanqie).
