Chowry fly-whisk taps the desk (麈㞑扣案: the first character is pronounced zhǔ; the second character is the standard character wěi. Chowry fly-whisk fans were already glossed in a previous fascicle. Kòu has the sound of kǒu. Kong [Anguo's] commentary on the Analects says: "Kòu means to strike." The Guangya says: "To hold." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Striking with something." It takes 手 and 口. In ancient script it was sometimes written with 言 as 𧥣, or as 叩; the pronunciations and glosses of [向*殳] are probably the same).
