褊陿（上鞭沔反廣雅云褊猶陿也楚辭云淺智褊能是也說文從衣扁聲下咸甲反字書為廣陿之陿從𨸏從匧陿隘也傳文從犬作狹非此義也）。

Narrow and cramped (褊陿: the first character has the fanqie 鞭 + 沔. The Guangya says: "Biǎn is like narrow." The Chuci says: "Shallow in wisdom and cramped in ability," which is this. The Shuowen jiezi takes 衣 as semantic classifier and 扁 as phonetic component. The second character has the fanqie 咸 + 甲. Dictionaries note it as the xiá of wide-or-narrow; it takes 𨸏 and 匧; xiá means narrow and cramped. The transmitted text writes it with 犬 as 狹, which lacks this sense).
