聳峙（上栗勇反郭注方言云聳猶高也或作竦莊子云竦立而高也說文從耳從聲下持理反考聲云峙山特立也說文從止寺聲傳文從山作峙俗用）。

Towering high (for the first [character 聳], l- + [y]ong [sǒng]; Guo's commentary to the Fangyan says: “'Song' is like high.” It is also written as 竦; Zhuangzi says: “Standing upright and high.” The Shuowen says: “It follows 耳 (ear) and has 從 as its phonetic.” For the second [character 峙], ch- + [l]i [zhì]; the Kaosheng says: “'Zhi' means a mountain standing uniquely solitary.” The Shuowen says: “It follows 止 with 寺 as its phonetic.” In the transmission text it is written following 山 as 峙, which is common usage).
