旃陀羅（或云旃荼羅此云嚴熾謂屠殺者種類之名也一云主殺人獄卒也案西域記云其人若行則搖鈴自摽或柱破頭之竹若不然王即與其罪也）。

Zhanduoluo 旃陀羅 (or written as 旃荼羅 [Caṇḍāla]; here translated as 'fierce and blazing', which is the clan name of slaughterers; another says the prison guards who oversee executions. Note that the Xiyu ji says: 'When those people walk, they shake bells to identify themselves, or carry split bamboo sticks; if they do not do so, the king imposes punishment on them').
