盟誓（靡京反禮記諸侯莅牲曰盟周禮司盟戰之法鄭玄曰書其辭於𠕋上殺牲取血歃之加書於牲上而埋之著其信也大事曰盟小事曰誓也）。

Mengshi 盟誓 (fanqie: 靡京; the Liji says: 'When feudal lords approach a sacrificial beast, it is called meng 盟 [covenant].' The Zhouli's 'Official of Covenants' on the ritual of warfare: Zheng Xuan says: 'They write the text on tablets, slaughter the beast, take its blood to smear on their mouths, place the writing on top of the beast and bury it, to make its trustworthiness manifest. A great affair is called meng 盟; a small affair is called shi 誓 [pledge]').
