婆伽婆（舊譯云有大功德至聖之名也下言薄伽梵薄伽此譯云德梵此言成就義眾德成滿名薄伽梵又此一名總攝眾德餘即不爾故諸經首皆置此名也）。

Bhagavān (婆伽婆; old translations say: "One possessing great merit; the designation of the supreme sage"; below it is said "Baojiafan (薄伽梵, Bhagavat)": baojia (薄伽) is translated here as "virtue/merit", and fan (梵) here means "accomplishment"; one whose multitude of virtues is fully perfected is called Baojiafan; furthermore, this single name gathers all virtues collectively, whereas other names do not; hence, at the beginning of all sūtras this name is placed).
