百乘（古文𠓲乘二形同承證反廣雅乘駕也三蒼乘載也周禮四馬為乘其形曰一車其數曰之乘也）。

百乘 [a hundred chariots]: In ancient script 𠓲 and 乘 are two forms, both [pronounced with the] fanqie 承證 (shèng). The Guangya says: "乘 means to ride or drive." The Sancang says: "乘 means to carry." The Rites of Zhou says: "Four horses make a team (乘). In form it is called a carriage; in number it is called a team (乘)."
