編韋（上褊綿反劉兆注公羊傳云編韋者比連其作簡也說文次簡也從糸扁聲下位歸反說文獸皮之韋可以束枉𠂕也從[舛-夕+?]口聲[舛-夕+?]音川兖反口音韋褊音卑演反從衣也）。

編韋 (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 褊綿 [biān]. Liu Zhao's commentary to the Gongyang zhuan says: "編韋 means linking together those bamboo slips that have been made." The Shuowen says: "To arrange bamboo slips in order; it takes 糸 as radical and 扁 as phonetic." The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 位歸 [wéi]. The Shuowen says: "Tanned animal hides, which can be used to bundle bent items; it takes [舛-夕+?] with 口 as phonetic." [舛-夕+?] is pronounced with the fanqie 川兖 [chuǎn]; 口 is pronounced like 韋. 褊 is pronounced with the fanqie 卑演 [biǎn], taking 衣 as radical.)
