妍蚩（上嚙堅反正體研字也妍好也美也慧也下齒之反釋名癡也聲類云蚩騃也考聲蚩惡也說文從虫㞢聲也㞢古之字也）。

妍蚩 [beauty and ugliness] (The first character is pronounced with the fanqie 嚙堅 [yán]; the orthodox form of the character 研. 妍 means fine, beautiful, intelligent. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 齒之 [chī]. The Shiming says: 'Foolish.' The Shenglei says: '蚩 means foolish.' The Kaosheng says: '蚩 means bad/ugly.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It derives from 虫 [insect] with 㞢 as phonetic.' 㞢 is an ancient form of 之).
