Emaciated and gaunt (羸瘠, the first character is *jiu* [j-] + *zhui* [-ui]; the second is *qing* [q-] + *yi* [-ik]; the Kaosheng says it means thin; character dictionaries say it means lean, emaciated, sick, and weak; it is also written as 膌, composed of 脊, or with 疒 and 脊 phonetic).
