Terrified and panicked (怖遽, the first character is *pu* [p-] + *bu* [-u], meaning scared; the second is *qu* [q-] + *yu* [-u], falling tone; Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says it means fearful; it is sometimes written with the heart radical as 懅, the same; the Shuowen jiezi says it is composed of 辵 with 豦 phonetic; 辵 is pronounced *chou* [ch-] + *lüe* [-üe], and 豦 is pronounced *qu* [q-], with 豕 below).
