持笏（昏骨反朝賢所秉手簡也或牙或木古者以記事恐有遺忘說文從竹勿聲）。

Holding a tablet (持笏: [笏 has] the fanqie sound of *h[un]-g[u]* [昏骨反]; it is the handheld tablet held by worthy officials at court, made of either ivory or wood; the ancients used it to record affairs lest they be forgotten; the *Shuowen* states that it is categorized under radical 竹 with 勿 as phonetic).
