緘避（上古咸反前高僧傳第八已釋訖下瞢比反瞢音墨崩反顧野王云默靜不言也說文從犬黑聲字書亦從曰作黑音同）。

緘避 (keeping silent and withdrawing: the first character is a fanqie of 古 and 咸 [jiān], and was already explained above in Gaoseng zhuan, Fascicle 8. The second character is a fanqie of 瞢 and 比 [mì]; 瞢 is pronounced as a fanqie of 墨 and 崩 [mèng]; Gu Yewang states: '默 means being silent and not speaking.' The Shuowen analyzes it as semantic 犬 and phonetic 黑; dictionaries also write it with 曰 as 黑, with the same sound).
