桎梏（上音質下音谷亦名杻械在手曰桔在足曰桎說文二字並從木形聲字也）。

Fetters and manacles (桎梏: the upper character is pronounced zhi [zhì]; the lower character is pronounced gu [gù]. They are also called manacles and fetters [杻械]. Those on the hands are called gu [梏]; those on the feet are called zhi [桎]. The Shuowen states that both characters are phono-semantic characters derived from "wood" [木]).
