Upon the bed mat (簀上: the first character has the sound zé. Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Liji says: "Ze (簀) is a bed mat." The Gujin zhengzi says: "Formed from [the radical] 竹 (bamboo) with 責 as phonetic").
