Transgressing and failing (𮘧負: the first character is fanqie qu + qian [qiān]. Kong [Anguo]'s commentary on the Shangshu says: "Qian (𮘧) means fault/transgression." The character dictionaries properly write it as 愆, which also means fault. Wei Hong wrote it with 言 as [(彳*言*亍)/心]. Ancient script writes it as 㥶 and 𦎊; the sound is the same as above.
