炎羲（下喜飢反傳文作曦俗字也字書正作羲孔注尚書云羲和曰御也又山海經云天帝之妻羲和生十日也王逸注楚辭云羲光明貌也說文從𠔃義聲也）。

Yanxi (炎羲: the second character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 喜飢 [xī]; the transmitted text writes 曦, which is a popular form; character dictionaries correctly write it as 羲. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu states: 'Xi and He are charioteers of the sun.' Also, the Shanhai jing states: 'Xihe, wife of the Heavenly Emperor, gave birth to ten suns.' Wang Yi's commentary on the Chuci states: 'Xi means luminous and bright.' The Shuowen jiezi states: 'It takes the 𠔃 radical and 義 phonetic').
