黃能(乃來反考聲云獸名也尒疋云鼈三足曰能說文熊屬也足似鹿從肉[耜-耒]聲能獸堅中故稱賢能而強牡稱能傑也集本作熊誤)。

Three-legged turtle (黃能; n[ǎi] + [l]ái fanqie. The Kaosheng states: 'The name of a beast.' The Erya states: 'A three-legged soft-shelled turtle is called a nái.' The Shuowen jiezi states: 'A kind of bear; its feet resemble a deer; it has the radical 肉 (flesh) and the phonetic [耜-耒].' The nái beast is firm within, hence worthy talents are called xiánnéng (capable), and strong males are called néngjié (outstanding). The collected editions write it as 熊 (bear), which is mistaken).
