Grain-fed and grass-fed animals (蒭豢; the upper character is ch[ǔ] + [y]ú fanqie; the lower character is h[uán] + [gu]àn fanqie. Zheng's Commentary on the Rites of Zhou states: 'Raising dogs and pigs is called huàn.' The Shuowen jiezi states: 'Raising pigs in a pen with grain.' It has the radical 豕 (pig) and the phonetic 卷 abbreviated. 圈 is pronounced qu[án] + [ru]ǎn fanqie).
