蹲膜（上徂孫反下茫蒲反穆天子傳云膜拜而受也郭璞云今之胡禮佛舉手加頭稱南膜拜者即此也說文從肉莫聲也）。

Prostrate in worship (蹲膜; the upper character is c[ú] + [s]ūn fanqie; the lower character is m[áng] + [p]ú fanqie. The Tale of King Mu, Son of Heaven states: 'He bowed in worship (móbài) and received it.' Guo Pu states: 'The present barbarian custom of worshipping the Buddha by raising hands to the head and proclaiming nánmó in prostration is precisely this.' The Shuowen jiezi states: 'It has the radical 肉 (flesh) and the phonetic 莫').
