Confused and disordered (殽: fanqie 効交 [xiáo]. The lower graph is the correct character for 亂 [luàn, disorder]. Jia Kui's commentary on the Guoyu says: "殽 means mixed." The Guangya states: "Disordered." The Shuowen jiezi states: "Intermingled; composed of 殳 with 肴 phonetic." Collected editions have it with 水 as 淆, which is interchangeable. 殳 is pronounced 殊 [shū]; 肴 has the same pronunciation as above).
