鵬鵾 [the péng and the kūn bird] (The upper character is pronounced péng; the lower is pronounced kūn. According to the Zhuangzi: "The péng is transformed from the kūn fish; its back measures who knows how many thousands of li, beating upon the whirlwind and soaring up ninety thousand li." The Chuci says: "The kūn-chicken chirps loudly and laments." Gu Yewang says: "Shaped like a crane, but larger." The Shuowen says: "Both characters take the bird radical, with yòng and kūn both phonetic." It is also written as 鶤.)
