佞倖（上寧定反說文從女仁聲集作侫俗字也下衡耿反王逸注楚辭云婞很也說文從人幸聲或從女作婞很音痕懇反杜注左傳云很猶戾惡也）。

Flattering favorites (佞倖: the first [character is pronounced] ning + ding fan; the Shuowen jiezi says it is composed of 'woman' [女] with 'benevolence' [仁] phonetic; the compiled text writes it as 侫, which is a popular variant. The second is heng + geng fan; Wang Yi's commentary on the Chu ci says that xing (婞) means obstinate [很]; the Shuowen jiezi says it is composed of 'person' [人] with 'fortune' [幸] phonetic; it is also written with 'woman' as 婞; the character 很 is pronounced hen + ken fan; Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says that 很 is like perverse and evil).
